Rezolv Energy lands €561 million loan for EU's biggest solar farm in Romania
Rezolv Energy's subsidiary West Power Investments has secured up to €561 million in financing for the 1.3 GW Dama Solar project in Arad County, marking the firm's largest funding deal to date.
Rezolv Energy, via its project arm West Power Investments, has finalized a financing agreement of up to €561 million for Dama Solar, a 1.3 GW on-shore solar park in Arad County, western Romania. The deal, the largest ever for the company, involves a consortium of 14 lenders—ten commercial banks such as Erste Group and UniCredit, plus three development finance institutions including the EBRD and IFC—underpinned by an anchor investment from the European Investment Bank with an Invest EU guarantee.
The funding supports 520 MW of capacity awarded in Romania's second Contracts for Difference auction and a corporate power purchase agreement. The project will move directly into construction, with EPC partners to be named shortly, and is expected to employ up to 1,500 workers during the build phase before commissioning in H2 2028. Dama Solar will also incorporate an 82-hectare nature reserve, representing one of the largest privately driven restoration projects linked to a solar park in Southeast Europe. The development adds to Rezolv's 2.8 GW portfolio across Romania and Bulgaria, which includes the newly commissioned 225 MW St. George solar park in Bulgaria and the upcoming VIFOR wind farm phases.
Why it matters
The financing enables Europe's largest on-shore solar farm, boosting renewable capacity and job creation in the region.
