He described David as a faulty artificial intelligence whose rebellion could be catastrophic. Scott reflected on his long-standing interest in AI themes across his work, from Blade Runner to the Alien franchise, while noting he has not yet employed AI in his own production process.
The director also mentioned his near-term projects, including the Jacob Elordi-led film The Dog Stars and an upcoming Treasure Island starring Hugh Jackman. Additionally, Scott will receive an honorary Oscar at the Governor’s Awards later in the year.
