Rifle coach arrested after family jumps off bridge, citing threats and alleged poisoning
A family of four leapt from a bridge in Rajahmundry, leaving a son rescued, and police have detained rifle coach Sadhik Khan over accusations of threats and a possible poison murder.
A tragic incident unfolded on August 17 when Kovvuri Soujanya, her parents Tillapudi Nookaraju and Tillapudi Meena, and her son Riyansh Karthikeya Reddy jumped from the Road-cum-Railway Bridge near Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh. The three adults were swept away and later found dead, while the boy survived after being caught in the bridge’s grill and rescued by two fishermen alerted by police. A suicide note left by Soujanya implicated rifle shooting coach Sadhik Khan, alleging he had harassed the family and poisoned her husband Jagadeesh Reddy.
Additional notes from Nookaraju and Meena echoed these claims, accusing Khan of threatening them, taking control of their property, and planning to sell the daughter and grandson. Kakinada’s superintendent of police formed a Special Investigation Team, which, with assistance from Uttar Pradesh police, located Khan in Meerut and arrested him on August 22. He was produced before a chief judicial magistrate in Meerut, then transferred to Kakinada for further investigation into the alleged murder, threats, financial manipulation, and possible religious conversion.
