Rishabh Pant overtakes MS Dhoni to become India's top away Test wicket-keeper scorer

During the second Test between India and Sri Lanka in Colombo, Rishabh Pant became the highest run-scorer for India as a designated wicket-keeper in away or neutral Tests, surpassing MS Dhoni's 2,496 runs with a new total of 2,500. Pant's average of nearly 42 in this role is markedly higher than Dhoni's 32.84, and he now leads a list that includes Farokh Engineer, Syed Kirmani and Kiran More. The record came a day after Pant was hit on the left arm by a short delivery from Sri Lankan pacer Lahiru Kumara, prompting a brief exit for treatment.

After a short pause, he resumed batting on the following day, enduring further short-pitched deliveries and shoulder impacts while partnering with Dhruv Jurel to steady the Indian innings. The performance highlighted Pant's resilience despite the injury concerns.
