Rising fuel costs set to hit SAS with a multi-billion-krona expense
SAS expects a substantial extra expense from soaring jet fuel prices, according to its commercial director Paul Verhagen.
Commercial director Paul Verhagen said that the jump in jet fuel prices, which have more than doubled since March, will add a multi-billion-krona charge to SAS's current financial year. He declined to specify the exact impact on the year that runs from 1 November 2025 to 31 October 2026. Aviation analyst Hans Jørgen Elnæs warned that the airline could at best break even, and at worst record a significant operating loss.
