RN Secures First Senate Group After 2026 Elections, Aims for 2027 Breakthrough

In a statement posted on X, Jordan Bardella celebrated a historic outcome for the Rassemblement national, confirming that the party will establish a Senate group for the first time in its history. The group will be formed in coalition with the UDR, led by President Eric Ciotti, after the renewal of 178 Senate seats. Bardella emphasized that the new bloc will give a voice to neglected regions, rural communities, and mayors often distant from Parisian decision-making.

He delivered the remarks from La Seyne-sur-Mer, a southern French city that has recently produced many nationalist officials. Shortly before, RN deputy Sebastien Chenu arrived at the Luxembourg Palace to follow the vote count. Marine Le Pen also praised the result as a milestone for the party.
