The Rassemblement national announced it will form a Senate parliamentary group for the first time, having secured at least 14 seats, while an Insoumis candidate also won a seat.
The Rassemblement national has reached the threshold to create an official Senate parliamentary group, bringing together roughly fifteen senators together with its UDR partner. The party’s gains were strongest in the southern departments, and Jordan Bardell said that many elected officials traditionally aligned with Les Républicains appear to have supported the RN, urging those "sincere patriots" to consider future collaboration.
The new group will grant the RN speaking time, resources and the ability to propose legislation. The Senate election also saw a La France Insoumise candidate win a seat, adding to the composition of the upper house.
