RNC chair warns Democratic Congress would empower antisemites, threaten Jews

Speaking to the Republican Jewish Coalition in Las Vegas, RNC chair Joe Gruters asserted that a Democratic majority in Congress would hand power to antisemites and constitute a direct danger to the Jewish community. He argued that the party’s leadership would be dominated by the “squad,” the Democratic Socialists of America, and individuals who, in his view, backed Hamas after the Oct. 7 attacks. Gruters highlighted New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani’s delayed condemnation of Hamas and his reversal of an anti-antisemitism order, as well as Representatives Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib and Senate hopeful Abdul El-Sayed for alleged anti-Israel statements.

He claimed these trends show the Democratic Party has embraced antisemitism, while Republicans such as Mike Lawler and Michael LiPetri are fighting for Jewish voters in New York districts. The speech underscores the GOP’s strategy to portray the upcoming congressional elections as a matter of security for the Jewish community.
