Road construction collapse in Baglung kills two workers, injures another
A mound of earth gave way on a road-building site in Nisikhola, Baglung, killing two laborers and seriously injuring a third.
In the early hours of Monday, a landslide at a construction site in Nisikhola Rural Municipality, Baglung district, trapped three road workers. The collapse occurred while they were digging a road from Bohoragaun through Kapra Chhapakhani to Pyuthan. Rescue teams managed to free one man, but the other two, 28-year-old Lal Bahadur Budhathoki of Salyan and 32-year-old Raju Thapa of Udayapur, were found dead.
A third laborer, Krishna Gharti from Rolpa, sustained critical injuries and was flown to a medical facility in Burtibang. The incident follows a recent landslide in the same area that claimed five lives, and authorities have placed the excavator driver, Bhadra Malla, in custody pending inquiry.
