Road Transport Ministry hires Engineers India Ltd to audit 5,000 km of highways
The road transport ministry will contract Engineers India Ltd as a third-party auditor to inspect roughly 5,000 km of expressways and national highways from construction start to completion.
Facing criticism over substandard work and early failures on road projects, the ministry has selected Engineers India Ltd to serve as a third-party inspection agency. The three-year engagement will cover 770 km of expressways, 2,200 km of six-lane highways, and 1,000 km each of four-lane and two-lane national highways. Inspections will begin at the commencement of construction and continue through project handover.
