Rob Reiner was honored with a posthumous Outstanding Guest Actor Emmy for his role in The Bear, while Apple TV+’s Widow’s Bay led the Creative Arts ceremony with eight early trophies.
At the Creative Arts Emmys, Rob Reiner posthumously earned Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy for his appearance on The Bear, with Wendi McLendon-Covey accepting the award on his behalf. Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were found murdered in their Brentwood home last December, and their son Nick Reiner has been charged and entered a not-guilty plea. Apple TV+’s Widow’s Bay dominated the early awards, taking eight trophies across cinematography, sound, music, production design and supporting-actress honors for Betty Gilpin.
Additional winners included Linda Cardellini and David Harbour for supporting roles in HBO’s DTF St Louis, Shailene Woodley for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama, and Ernest Harden Jr. for supporting actor in The Pitt. The ceremony will be edited for a broadcast on FXX on 12 September, with the main Emmy night slated for 14 September on one outlet and streaming on Peacock.
