Roberto Vannacci vows to turn Reggio Calabria into a Futurist stronghold
Roberto Vannacci announced his plan to make Reggio Calabria a “Sassonia futurista” and positioned former Forza Italia member Domenico Giannetta as his candidate for the upcoming election.
Roberto Vannacci proclaimed that Reggio Calabria will be transformed into a Futurist “Sassonia,” using the local election as a proving ground for his agenda. He has tapped Domenico (Mimmo) Giannetta, a former deputy and regional councilor who recently quit Forza Italia, to stand as his candidate. The contested parliamentary seat was formerly occupied by Francesco Cannizzaro, who resigned after becoming mayor of Reggio Calabria.
The mayor cautioned Vannacci to act prudently, suggesting the campaign could end in a disastrous defeat reminiscent of Caporetto. Vannacci rejected any partnership with Futuro Nazionale, describing his group as antagonistic to the government. Meanwhile, internal discipline issues surfaced as Luca Sforzini was expelled from Vannacci’s ranks for alleged liberalism. The upcoming vote will test whether Vannacci’s Futurist vision can gain traction in the city.
