Robinhood launches AI-driven trading agents for all 29 million users

Robinhood is giving its entire user base access to AI trading agents powered by OpenAI and Anthropic, letting them execute trades and run strategies via simple commands.

Starting this week, Robinhood’s roughly 29 million customers can use AI trading agents built on OpenAI and Anthropic models, a feature unveiled at the company’s annual HOOD summit. After a May release of a technical MCP tool, the new non-technical agents let users choose models such as GPT-6 Luna, GPT-6 Sol or Anthropic’s Opus 4.8 and give natural-language commands to place trades, conduct research or run complex loops that act on market conditions.

The platform imposes guardrails, including dedicated agent accounts, trade-size caps and optional final-approval steps, and offers temporary free data from providers like Unusual Whales and Token Terminal. Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev said the move democratizes tools once reserved for hedge funds, while analysts note the rollout could boost active-trading volume and introduce new market dynamics. Early adoption figures show over 150 000 customers have opened agentic accounts, and daily transactions now approach 30 million. Competitors such as eToro, Public and Coinbase already allow agent connections, suggesting broader industry adoption ahead.
