Roblox expands AI game builder, adds cross-platform play and creator finance tools
At its developer conference, Roblox unveiled broader AI-driven game creation, new cross-platform publishing options, and financial products for creators.
During the annual Roblox Developer Conference, the company revealed a suite of updates aimed at simplifying game development and extending reach beyond its native platform. The AI-powered “Build” system, first launched in July, is expanding from New Zealand to Serbia and Singapore and will now run on desktops, offering a richer asset library and iterative control, with a prompt-based scene generator slated for later this year.
Roblox will enable creators to package games as independent apps for mobile, PC and consoles, and by year-end users can launch games in a browser via a direct link. New NPC functions will include automated playtesting, while an offline mode will keep games running in low-connectivity areas, and a Friends chat tab will support voice typing. The platform is also adding a Roblox Wallet that pays creators in real money each business day and a Roblox Card planned for next year, both supported by a partnership with Airwallex. Founder and CEO David Baszucki highlighted that players logged over 29 billion hours across 180 countries in the last quarter.
Why it matters
Roblox's upgrades make game creation easier, broaden distribution, and give creators faster access to earnings.
