Rocket Lab pushes Neutron rocket's maiden flight to 2027 after development delay
Rocket Lab announced that the first launch of its Neutron rocket has been postponed to 2027, with development now extending into next year.
In a Form 8-K filing, Rocket Lab said the Neutron medium-lift vehicle, originally planned for late 2025, will now debut in 2027 as the company refines its processes. It is progressing through key manufacturing and testing milestones and will release further updates via its investor-relations site. Rocket Lab continues to operate its Electron and HASTE small-lift rockets.
Why it matters
The postponement affects the timing of new launch capabilities and competitive dynamics in the commercial space sector.
