Rockstar issues DMCA notices as alleged GTA VI footage and map surface online
Two short gameplay clips and a map screenshot that appear to be from Grand Theft Auto VI have been shared online, prompting Rockstar Games to send DMCA takedown requests to the posters.
Online users have posted two brief gameplay videos and a map image that seem to belong to Grand Theft Auto VI, featuring a dual protagonist named Jason and a fictional region dubbed Leonida, which resembles a compact version of south Florida with a Miami-like city and numerous islands. The clips hint at RPG elements such as focus bars, a karma system, and vehicle fuel gauges, while also showing familiar HUD elements from previous titles.
Rockstar Games has responded by filing DMCA takedown notices against those sharing the material. The source of the leak claims the release protests Rockstar's decision to include only a code in physical copies, accusing the publisher of anti-consumer practices. An official trailer will stream on Netflix on August 27, followed by a YouTube premiere, and the full game launches on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The authenticity of the leaks remains uncertain, but they provide a plausible glimpse of the upcoming title.
