Roger Lynch to Leave Condé Nast for CEO Role at Mattel

Roger Lynch will step down as Condé Nast chief to become chief executive and chairman of Mattel, while Ynon Kreiz departs for another public firm.

Mattel confirmed that Roger Lynch, a board member since 2018, will assume the roles of chief executive officer and chairman, succeeding Ynon Kreiz, who is moving to a role at another public company. Lynch will vacate his post as CEO of Condé Nast, the publisher of titles such as Vogue and one outlet; Mike Perlis, currently the lead independent director, will serve as interim CEO of the media group. Board member Judy Olian highlighted Lynch’s experience growing global businesses amid shifting consumer trends.

Kreiz was credited with shifting Mattel from a traditional toy maker to a leading IP-focused entertainment firm. Advance Publications’ Steven Newhouse expressed gratitude for Lynch’s leadership at Condé Nast and confidence in the transition.

Why it matters

The swap reshapes leadership at two major global brands, influencing both the toy market and the media publishing sector.
