Romania urges NATO and EU to step up defenses against Russian hybrid threats
Romanian Foreign Minister Oana-Silvia Toiu warned that Russian drone incursions over Ukraine are now reaching Romanian airspace and the Black Sea, and called for stronger NATO and EU countermeasures.
Toiu said Russian unmanned aircraft attacks on Ukraine have begun to spill into Romania, highlighting a widening hybrid campaign that also includes cyber-attacks and sabotage. Bucharest is pressing NATO for a more robust deterrent posture on the alliance’s eastern flank. She also urged tighter cooperation among EU members to address the broader spectrum of Russian aggression.
Why it matters
