Romanian border checks uncover dozens of violations and seize goods worth over a million lei
Border police reported dozens of legal breaches during recent checks, confiscating goods valued at nearly 1.2 million lei and denying entry or exit to several individuals.
Romanian border authorities conducted extensive inspections of travelers and transport means, uncovering 91 instances of legal non-compliance. Among these, 43 were classified as crimes and 48 as minor offenses, prompting the confiscation of products valued at roughly 1.194 million lei to protect consumers. The eDAC application facilitated more than 15,700 database checks during the operation.
Since the start of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, over 16 million Ukrainian citizens have entered Romania. In the same period, officials denied entry to 31 foreign nationals who did not meet legal requirements and prevented five Romanian citizens from exiting the country. The checks covered border points with Serbia, Moldova, Ukraine, as well as maritime and air arrivals from outside the Schengen area.
