Romanian electricity contracts could see up to 22% price jump, AEI says
AEI warns that one-year electricity contracts in Romania may increase by 22%, adding 0.25-0.50 RON per kWh.
The American Enterprise Institute revised its forecast, estimating a rise of 0.25 to 0.50 RON per kilowatt-hour for annual electricity contracts. The update follows an extended market alert and revised gas price and exchange-rate assumptions. OPCOM data show wholesale prices climbing sharply, with the day-ahead market hitting 793.19 RON/MWh in August and 917.36 RON/MWh in September, up from the previous year.
Why it matters
Higher electricity costs could strain households and industry, influencing Romania's economy and energy budgeting.
