Romanian farmers to receive up to 333 lei per hectare for drought-hit corn and sunflower

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development confirmed a new assistance program for producers whose corn and sunflower crops were severely affected by the 2025 pedological drought. Eligible farms can receive a maximum of 333 lei per hectare, with the amount decreasing proportionally to the level of damage. Funding for the scheme comes from both the European Union’s non-reimbursable agricultural guarantee fund and the national budget, each covering half of the total resources.

To qualify, farmers must provide a damage assessment report showing at least 30% loss of the cultivated area. The program applies nationwide and will be administered through the Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture.
