Romanian health ministry warns of limited injectable flu vaccine supplies ahead of October restock
The Ministry of Health said injectable flu vaccine stocks are running low nationwide and the next shipment will arrive at the end of October.
Romania has four seasonal flu vaccines approved for the 2026-2027 campaign. While the intranasal Fluenz for younger people and the senior-targeted Efluelda remain available in sufficient quantities, the injectable options Vaxigrip and Influvac have been mostly used up following the September distribution. The Ministry of Health reported that remaining injectable doses are scarce across pharmacies.
Pharmacies source these medicines directly from manufacturers, following standard supply chains. The National Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices is working with the three producers to ensure continuity, and a new delivery round is set to begin next week, with additional stock arriving by the end of October.
Why it matters
Limited flu vaccine availability could hinder Romania's seasonal immunisation campaign.
