Romanian interior ministry warns of manipulation attempts targeting sheep farmers
The Ministry of Internal Affairs says some parties are trying to incite sheep farmers in Romania to stage large protests, labeling it manipulation.
The Romanian Ministry of Internal Affairs issued a communiqué asserting that there are efforts to encourage a portion of the country's sheep and goat farmers to launch large-scale protests, describing these efforts as manipulation. The statement highlights that the initial shipments of vaccines for ovine and caprine animals are now in Romania and that the government has begun the procurement process, with vaccination to start soon as announced by ANSVSA.
It also claims that the principal grievances of the farmers have been met, focusing on resuming exports and meeting farmers' conditions. The ministry advises livestock owners to obtain information from official channels and to critically assess messages urging protest actions. While acknowledging the right to peaceful assembly, the ministry stresses the need for public safety. Marian Neacșu (PSD) heads the ministry.
