Romanian police set up special routes and assistance for thousands of pilgrims in Iași

The Romanian Gendarmerie will manage crowd flow and safety for a major pilgrimage to Iași during early October, using a dedicated access corridor and on-site support.

During the first half of October, Iași will host a large religious gathering honoring Saint Parascheva, and the Romanian Gendarmerie, through the Mobile Unit Bacău, will coordinate security and crowd management. A dedicated access corridor will begin at the Metropolitan Cathedral and continue along multiple city avenues, with extensions considered based on conditions. Throughout the route, priests, volunteers and law-enforcement officers will be present to direct pilgrims and provide assistance.

Organisers advise visitors to follow official instructions, keep personal belongings secure, and be prepared for possible long waiting periods. Those receiving medical treatment are urged to carry necessary medication and records, while residents and commuters may face partial access restrictions requiring documentation. In emergencies, pilgrims should contact the nearest gendarme or dial 112.
