President Nicușor Dan attended a dinner hosted by US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz in New York, where they highlighted cooperation on UN reforms and upcoming security council discussions.

President Nicușor Dan arrived in New York for the UN General Assembly and met with US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz, who hosted a dinner for the Romanian leader. In a post-dinner post on X, Waltz underscored shared goals of reforming the United Nations, eliminating inefficiency, and prioritising peace, security and national sovereignty. Dan will address the UN on Wednesday and join a Security Council session focused on Ukraine.

His schedule also features a stop at the 9/11 Memorial alongside partner Mirabela Grădinaru, a discussion with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, and a meeting with Ronald Lauder, who recently criticized Dan over the delayed Vexler Law against xenophobia. Additional engagements include talks with former US ambassadors to Romania, US tech entrepreneurs, JPMorgan Chase representatives, and the inauguration of a New York intersection named for Queen Maria, concluding with a reception hosted by Donald and Melania Trump.
