Romanian prosecutors investigate three teens for repeated terrorist propaganda access

DIICOT prosecutors have opened criminal investigations into three minors accused of repeatedly accessing and possessing extremist propaganda online.

DIICOT’s central unit has launched criminal probes against three adolescents - two aged 16 and one aged 17 - for repeatedly accessing and holding terrorist propaganda online to absorb an Islamist extremist ideology. Prosecutors say one of the suspects authored a guide outlining conduct rules for supporters or fighters of a terrorist organization, including advice on interacting with authorities and evading detection. Search warrants were executed at homes in Constanța, Galați, Alba and Iași, where investigative teams collected evidentiary material.

The investigation is being conducted jointly by DIICOT prosecutors, judicial police officers and the Romanian Intelligence Service. DIICOT warned that minors are especially vulnerable to radicalisation and stressed the need for early detection and preventive measures involving families and schools.
