Romanian resident doctors call for specialty exam overhaul amid grading complaints
Hundreds of Romanian medical residents have asked the Ministry of Health to intervene in the specialty exam, citing errors in question wording and scoring rubrics.
A sizable group of Romanian medical residents has petitioned the Ministry of Health to address what they describe as serious flaws in the recent specialty examination. According to the applicants, several questions were poorly phrased, included content not listed in the prescribed bibliography, and featured arithmetic errors that conflicted with the official scoring rubric. The cardiology specialty has drawn particular attention due to a high failure rate among candidates.
The Society of Resident Doctors submitted a formal complaint, requesting revised grading tables and the possibility of an extraordinary exam for affected specialties. Minister Cseke Attila clarified that exam papers are prepared by university committees, not the ministry, and that the ministry will compile all regional feedback before deciding on any remedial actions.
