Romanian students await PISA 2025 results after 2022 performance slump

Romania will announce its PISA 2025 outcomes on Tuesday, a test that previously placed the country near the bottom of the EU rankings.

Romanian authorities have scheduled the disclosure of the 2025 PISA scores for a Tuesday morning event at the Carol I Central University Library in Bucharest. Representatives from the Ministry of Education and the Institute of Educational Sciences will present the findings, with interim Education Minister Mihai Dimian on the panel. A video greeting from Andreas Schleicher, the OECD director for Education and Skills, will also be shown.

The release comes after the 2022 assessment, when Romania was positioned near the bottom of the EU list across all three tested domains - mathematics, reading and science - and fell well short of the OECD average. Officials hope the new data will guide future education reforms.
