Romanian tourist wounded in Quito store robbery after refusing to surrender belongings
A Romanian visitor was shot in the leg during a robbery at a busy Quito shop after he declined to hand over his items.
In a densely populated commercial area of Quito, an armed robber entered a shop on República de El Salvador boulevard, threatening customers and demanding their possessions. The perpetrator singled out a Romanian tourist and asked for his belongings; after the tourist declined, the attacker drew a pistol and shot him in the right thigh. The gunman fled the scene immediately.
Local police were notified through neighborhood chat groups and responded, transporting the injured tourist to a medical facility.
