Romanian USR deputy resigns from Parliament after Moldovan ministerial appointment
USR deputy Claudiu Năsui stepped down from the Romanian Parliament following his appointment as Moldova's minister of Economic Development and Digitalisation.
Claudiu Năsui, a member of the USR parliamentary group, resigned his seat in the Romanian Chamber of Deputies after accepting the post of minister of Economic Development and Digitalisation in the Moldovan government. In his resignation letter, he explained that the decision reflects the legal requirement to relinquish his mandate due to the incompatibility arising from his new appointment. Năsui had taken the oath for the Moldovan ministerial position earlier in August.
The USR leadership promptly informed the Chamber that Mihai-Alexandru Badea, a Bucharest Bar lawyer and former USR deputy, will replace him. Badea previously served in the legislature from 2020 to 2024 and was active in anti-penalty initiatives and legislative drafting.
