Runner Kiplimo receives two-year doping suspension after pain-killer claim

Athlete Kiplimo was handed a two-year ban for a doping violation, saying he had taken his wife’s pain medication before the test.

During the investigation, Kiplimo explained that a week before his anti-doping test he used painkillers belonging to his spouse after a long run, but could not recall the drug’s name or appearance. He also mentioned taking vitamins and other supplements he could not identify. The Athletics Integrity Unit found no proof of intentional cheating and imposed a two-year suspension that ends in August 2028. He previously placed second at the Prague Half Marathon and was runner-up at the Hamburg Marathon with a 2:04:01 personal best.
