Runner seriously injured after double dog attack in Brisbane park

A 37-year-old runner was mauled by two pit-bull-type dogs at Seventh Brigade Park in Chermside, sustaining severe facial and arm wounds and being rushed to hospital in critical condition.

Around 6.15 pm on Friday, a 37-year-old jogger was attacked by two dogs, believed to be pit-bulls, in Seventh Brigade Park, Chermside. He suffered deep lacerations to his face and arms and was transported to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in critical condition. Police (Polair) were summoned to track the animals; one was seized and later euthanised, while the second was located the following morning at a home on Newman Rd, Wavell Heights.

A local resident, Monique Moore, reported seeing the first dog at a veterinary clinic where she was having her elderly pet put down. Other witnesses said they heard a woman calling a dog's name near the scene. Despite the incident, the weekly 5 km parkrun at Chermside continued on Saturday, with organizers urging participants to keep dogs away and supervise children closely.
