Running back Myles Gaskin ends NFL career at age 29 after Super Bowl win

Myles Gaskin announced his retirement from professional football at 29, concluding a seven-year NFL tenure that capped with a Super Bowl victory with the Seattle Seahawks.

Myles Gaskin, a 29-year-old running back who entered the NFL as a seventh-round selection by the Miami Dolphins, announced his retirement on social media, thanking football for the experience. After four seasons in Miami, where he eventually earned a starting role and posted his best statistical year in 2021, he signed a one-year extension in 2023 but was cut before the season began. He then moved among several teams, joining the Minnesota Vikings, Los Angeles Rams, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Baltimore Ravens before landing with the Seattle Seahawks in October 2025.

Gaskin contributed three offensive snaps and five special-teams snaps in Seattle’s Super Bowl-winning campaign, recording six rushing yards. Over his career he totaled 1,360 rushing yards, 102 receptions for 712 yards, and 13 touchdowns. He also holds a collegiate record as the first true freshman at the University of Washington to exceed 1,000 rushing yards in a season.

Why it matters

Gaskin’s retirement closes the chapter on a journeyman player who contributed to a Super Bowl champion team.
