Rupert Grint to reprise Ron Weasley on Broadway in 'Cursed Child' this February

Rupert Grint, 38, is set to step back into the shoes of Ron Weasley for the Broadway version of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, portraying the character as an adult. The play, which catches up with Harry, Ron and Hermione nearly two decades after the original saga, will feature Grint from early February until May 30. He posted a photo on Instagram saying he is “dusting off the old robes” and expressed excitement about returning to a role that has defined much of his career.

In a recent interview, Grint noted that playing Ron now, while both are fathers, feels both familiar and entirely new. While Tom Felton will also reprise his film role as Draco Malfoy in the same show, his run ends on 3 January, so the two will not share the stage. Grint’s résumé includes all eight Harry Potter movies, TV work such as Sick Note and Servant, and a 2014 Broadway comedy credit. Producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender praised his return as a continuation of a journey that began in childhood.
