Russia and United States to resume high-level bilateral talks in coming weeks

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov announced that Russian and American delegations will reconvene in the coming weeks to address mutual challenges in their bilateral relationship. He emphasized that such dialogues have become regular and are valued by Moscow, despite the pace of concrete advances falling short of Russian expectations. The talks build on an early-2025 accord under which both sides pledged to work at the expert level to resolve issues that impede diplomatic missions.

These discussions are taking place alongside political negotiations concerning the resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. In August, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zaharova said new Russia-U.S. meetings are being arranged to remove “blocking factors,” though she did not specify a timetable. Both parties intend to keep the dialogue open despite the slow progress.
