Russia says it will resume Ukraine peace talks after November 4 national holiday

Russia's foreign policy adviser Jurij Usakov announced that Moscow will be ready to continue trilateral negotiations on Ukraine after the November 4 holiday.

In a televised interview, Jurij Usakov, adviser to the Russian president on foreign affairs, said that after Russia's National Unity Day on November 4, the country will be prepared to resume the multilateral peace negotiations over Ukraine. He noted that the holiday falls just before the United States' midterm legislative elections. Usakov recalled that Russia had been ready to re-engage after recent parliamentary elections, but Ukraine's large-scale drone attacks were timed to that period.

He emphasized that any settlement must involve not only Kyiv but also the broader European community, which fully backs Ukraine. Usakov confirmed that talks are being arranged for the Russian, American and Chinese leaders ahead of the APEC summit, and that President Vladimir Putin has received an invitation to the G20 meeting in Miami, contingent on the outcome of the APEC summit.

Why it matters

The statement signals Russia's potential willingness to re-engage in diplomatic efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict.
