Russia signals readiness to restart US-Ukraine trilateral talks around November 10

Russian officials said they are prepared to resume three-way talks with the United States and Ukraine in early November, focusing on a post-war security framework.

In St. Petersburg, Russian officials met with U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and discussed reviving trilateral negotiations that would involve Russia, the United States and Ukraine. According to Russian statements, the parties could reconvene around November 10 to work on a security framework that would govern relations after the conflict ends. The schedule had originally been set for the period immediately after the Russian State Duma elections, but a massive Ukrainian strike on election day disrupted those plans.

Russian representatives asserted that their forces hold full strategic initiative along the line of contact and offered an "objective picture" of the situation. The meeting was part of Witkoff's broader visit to Russia, during which he intended to present fresh proposals for ending the war. Both sides left the talks with a tentative timeline but no concrete agreements were reached.

Why it matters

Resuming three-way talks could shape the post-war security landscape and influence the trajectory of the Ukraine conflict.
