Russian defence ministry reports drone strikes on western Ukrainian logistics hubs and multiple maritime attacks

The Russian defence ministry said Ukrainian drones hit the Grand Import logistics centre in Hmelnickij and the Vendor Trans Service hub in Kovel, while naval vessels were attacked at the Reni port and in the Black Sea.

The Russian defence ministry announced that Ukrainian drones struck two logistics facilities in western Ukraine: the Grand Import centre in the city of Hmelnickij and the Vendor Trans Service hub in Kovel, Volhynia. In addition, three ships carrying military or dual-purpose cargo were attacked while docked at the Reni port in Odessa region, damaging both the vessels and the terminal infrastructure that supports cargo handling.

A separate maritime assault hit a ship transporting military supplies in the Black Sea. The ministry added that its air defence forces shot down 136 unmanned aerial systems of 136 types over a 24-hour span, covering 14 Russian regions. Separate reports mentioned a drone causing a fire at a plant in the Micsurini district and the detention of an 18-year-old for alleged espionage, but these were not linked to the logistics attacks.

Why it matters

The strikes highlight ongoing vulnerability of supply chains and maritime routes amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
