Russian defence ministry reports massive night strike on Ukrainian weapons factories and ports
The Russian defence ministry said its forces carried out a coordinated night assault on Ukrainian defence-industry sites across seven regions, also hitting Odessa’s port facilities.
The Russian defence ministry announced a large-scale night operation aimed at crippling Ukraine's defence-industry capacity. Ground, air and naval assets were deployed to destroy drone and missile production facilities in seven Ukrainian oblasts, including Kyiv, Chernihiv, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava and Kharkiv. The strikes focused on sites linked to the "Flamingo" combat-drone programme and other UAV manufacturing and storage.
In parallel, Russian forces targeted Odessa's port infrastructure and ship-repair installations. Russian air-defence systems intercepted 311 Ukrainian drones, shooting them down over Russian territory and the Black and Azov seas. The intensified fighting also led to civilian casualties in the Russian-occupied part of Donetsk, with thirteen people reported injured, and caused power outages in multiple localities of Voronezh region.
Why it matters
The attack shows a significant escalation in Russia's effort to degrade Ukraine's military production and logistics capabilities.
