Russian drone strikes passenger train near Poland border, no casualties reported
A Russian drone hit a passenger train carrying about 200 people a few kilometres from the Poland border, but no one was injured and the crossing was briefly closed.
A passenger train with roughly 200 occupants was hit by a Russian drone a short distance from the Poland border crossing. Train staff received prior warning of the incoming drone, enabling an orderly evacuation and resulting in no injuries. The border crossing was closed for a short period after the incident, and additional drones were said to have been downed as close as 800 metres from the Polish frontier.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha labeled the attacks barbaric and warned they represent Putin's terror at the doors of the EU and NATO. Former Swedish prime minister Carl Bildt, who was in the vicinity, posted that the security system worked well, noting the train was not theirs and was evacuated minutes before the drone arrived. Recent Russian attacks have caused six deaths and 43 injuries.
