Russian forces seize drone-delivered aid and detain civilians as mines kill and wound residents in Oleshky

Russian troops in the occupied Kherson town of Oleshky have taken food parcels delivered by Ukrainian military drones and questioned locals found with items not made in Russia, according to the exiled head of the city military administration. Over the last 24 hours, a man gathering nuts was killed by a landmine and four other civilians were wounded while trying to escape the town via known routes. Victims were transported in garden trolleys and a bicycle to a severely under-resourced hospital that lacks electricity, water and medical supplies.

The hospital relies on generators after the 2023 destruction of the Kakhovka Dam, but fuel shortages persist. Ukrainian authorities accuse Russian forces of obstructing aid deliveries, confiscating or reselling supplies, and detaining residents, including a family that vanished after being taken to a basement. The foreign ministry warned that Russia plans staged videos showing residents falsely claiming they are well-fed and grateful for the occupation.
