The victims were identified as a couple, a 76-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man. The attack took place roughly 44 km from Ukraine’s northeastern border with Russia.
Officials note that regions near the border and front lines are experiencing a surge in FPV drone strikes during daylight hours, posing a growing threat to civilians. FPV drones, which entered large-scale use in 2023, are inexpensive to produce and enable operators to target locations with high accuracy. Their deployment has altered the dynamics of the conflict, making movement in affected areas increasingly hazardous.
