Russian strikes across Ukraine killed at least 16 people and injured 59, with Kyiv hit by multiple waves of missiles and drones overnight.
Russian military operations intensified on Sept. 24, deploying 282 drones—including jet-powered types—and a mix of Zircon, Iskander-M, S-400 and KN-23 missiles against Ukraine. Kyiv endured three waves of ballistic missiles overnight, killing two and injuring eight, while residential blocks, a maternity hospital and critical infrastructure were struck. Across the country the assaults caused at least 16 fatalities and 59 injuries, with the highest death tolls in Donetsk Oblast (eight killed) and Kharkiv Oblast (six killed).
Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 227 of the aerial threats, downing the majority of drones and several missiles. Governors in the affected oblasts described damage to farms, hospitals, schools, shopping centres and pipelines, and noted repeated attacks on dozens of settlements.
