Russian tennis star Prozorova forced to withdraw after concussion protocol decision

Prozorova posted on social media that a physiotherapist instructed her to exit the court and undergo a demanding test, which she struggled with after three consecutive days of over three-hour matches. She and her camp allege that officials applied undue pressure, but the WTA stated it acted in line with its concussion protocol to protect her health. A medical team and tournament doctor examined her, concluding she was physically unable to play.

Consequently, she was withdrawn from the event where she had previously defeated Alexandra Eala and Wang Sin-jü. The WTA noted she may return to future tournaments only after completing a gradual return-to-play program and receiving medical clearance.
