Rutgers Research Dean Charged with Invasion of Privacy Over Secret Upskirt Recordings
Rutgers University’s dean of research, Joshua Kohut, has been charged with fourth-degree invasion of privacy for secretly filming upskirt videos and is now on paid administrative leave.
Joshua Kohut, 51, who serves as the dean of research at Rutgers University’s School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, has been charged with fourth-degree invasion of privacy for allegedly filming upskirt videos without the subject’s knowledge. The allegation was disclosed by New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport and the Division of Criminal Justice, noting that a forensic review of Kohut’s seized phone revealed the illicit footage.
Following the announcement, Rutgers placed Kohut on paid administrative leave and prohibited his campus access pending the investigation’s outcome. The dean could face up to 18 months in prison and a fine of up to $10,000 if convicted. The Attorney General’s office and the Division of Criminal Justice are asking any potential victims to contact the Department of Law and Public Safety. Kohut has a long history with Rutgers, having been a graduate student there nearly three decades ago and later joining the faculty.
