Ryanair signs five-year Google Cloud pact, expanding its dual-cloud strategy

Ryanair has entered a five-year agreement with Google Cloud to add AI and productivity services, complementing its recently renewed AWS contract.

Ryanair announced a five-year contract with Google Cloud that will bring AI capabilities, productivity suites and multi-cloud infrastructure to its operations, following a July renewal of its AWS agreement for another five years. The airline intends to deploy Google Workspace and a range of Google Cloud services to its 35,000-strong workforce as it targets 300 million passengers annually by 2034. Central to the new partnership is the Gemini Enterprise agentic AI platform, which will help automate crew scheduling, improve staff efficiency and support maintenance planning through DeepMind’s AlphaEvolve and WeatherNext.

CEO Eddie Wilson described the dual-cloud model as essential for infrastructure resilience, allowing critical systems to shift between providers during outages. Google Cloud vice-president Maureen Costello called the collaboration a showcase of large-scale generative AI deployment. Under the existing AWS deal, Ryanair will keep using Amazon Quick, Amazon Bedrock and related tools for its website and operational planning across a fleet of 647 aircraft.
