Rystad Energy appoints new CEO and secures minority investment from Marlin Equity Partners
Rystad Energy announced that deputy CEO Lars Eirik Nicolaisen will become its chief executive, while U.S. firm Marlin Equity Partners will make a minority investment.
Rystad Energy confirmed a leadership transition in which longtime deputy Lars Eirik Nicolaisen will assume the role of managing director, succeeding founder Jarand Rystad after 22 years at the helm. Jarand Rystad will continue as a working chairman and keep his controlling ownership share. The company also disclosed a new minority investment from Los Angeles-based Marlin Equity Partners, a global investment firm with a history of over 270 acquisitions.
The size of the capital injection was not revealed. Rystad Energy plans to use the proceeds to further develop its artificial-intelligence capabilities, notably the Spektra technology platform introduced in August. Both parties expressed confidence that the partnership will enhance the firm’s ability to deliver precise data and insights to energy market participants worldwide.
