Sachin Pilot says synthetic heroin reaches Punjab homes faster than pizza
Congress leader Sachin Pilot accused the AAP and BJP of failing to curb a surge of synthetic heroin, claiming it can be ordered by phone and delivered faster than pizza or Coca-Cola in Punjab.
Congress’s Punjab in-charge Sachin Pilot warned that synthetic heroin, known locally as “chitta,” is being delivered to homes in Punjab faster than a pizza or a Coke, often within minutes of a phone order. He alleged that the drugs are sourced from across the Pakistan border and that an “unlimited supply” is already flowing into the state. Pilot slammed the BJP’s claim of making Punjab drug-free and accused the AAP-led government of aggravating the issue, pointing to increasing numbers of addicts, “zombie” drug users, and attacks on police stations.
He cited a recent seizure of cocaine valued at ₹21,000 crore at Mundra Port in Gujarat as a stark illustration of the trafficking scale. Pilot also questioned the Home Ministry’s response and suggested that a nexus of police, administration and politicians enables the distribution network.

The remarks highlight a growing drug crisis in Punjab and political blame-shifting that could affect public safety and policy.
