Safeguarding GP claims she was forced out after raising gender-care concerns
Dr Sarah Redvers, a named safeguarding GP, says she was bullied and dismissed after reporting concerns about gender-distressed children’s treatment in Sussex.
Dr Sarah Redvers, who served as a safeguarding GP for Sussex, says she was accused of transphobia and subjected to bullying after raising concerns about how gender-distressed children were assessed and treated.
Redvers has sued the NHS Sussex Integrated Care Board and former CEO Adam Doyle for constructive dismissal, arguing the focus on her case diverted attention from patient safety. An independent safety investigation in June 2026 later confirmed that 78 children may have been harmed by inappropriate prescriptions at the clinic. NHS Surrey and Sussex have apologized for mishandling the employment process, while NHS England called the situation “totally unacceptable.” The employment tribunal is still pending a judgment.
