Sainsbury's to Transfer All Eight Northern Ireland Fuel Sites to Go Brand

Sainsbury's has agreed to sell its eight petrol stations in Northern Ireland to LCC Group, the operator of the Go forecourt brand.

A transaction between Sainsbury's and LCC Group will transfer ownership and operational control of all eight Sainsbury's fuel stations in Northern Ireland to the Go brand. The locations - spanning West Belfast, Forestside, Holywood Exchange, Sprucefield, Bangor, Ballymena, Coleraine and Dungannon - will be renamed Go stations and are slated for substantial upgrades under the new ownership. Sainsbury's assures that the sale does not involve any planned redundancies; employees will stay on the payroll at nearby Sainsbury's stores.

Caroline Holroyde, Sainsbury's director of petrol and kiosk, described the agreement as a chance to modernise the sites with fresh investment. The supermarket also confirmed its ongoing commitment to a major multimillion-pound investment in Northern Ireland, including the opening of new supermarkets in Omagh and Derry, which are expected to create hundreds of local jobs.

Why it matters

The sale reshapes fuel retail in Northern Ireland and secures jobs while Sainsbury's focuses on expanding its supermarket footprint.
